Online races are peer to peer (WebRTC). Some school or office networks block that; if joining fails, try another network or set a TURN server below.

Gamepads work too: A / RT gas, B / LT brake, LB / RB drift, X item, Y look back. On a phone or tablet drag on the left half of the screen to steer.

Tips

• Drift: hold drift while turning. Sparks go blue, then orange, then purple. Let go for a mini-turbo; the longer the drift, the bigger the boost.
• Rocket start: press accelerate as the 2 disappears. Too early and you stall.
• Tricks: press hop as you fly off a ramp for a boost when you land.
• Items: drive through the ? boxes. Nitro, rockets that bounce off the walls, homing rockets, oil slicks, a shield and a shockwave that spins out everyone ahead. The further back you are, the better the items.
• Orange chevrons on the road are boost pads. The grass and sand slow you down.
